👏🌍✨ Championing Youth Voices: Ratson Delegates East Showa Zone Child Parliament President to Global Nairobi Summit 👏🌍✨

At Ratson Women, Youth, and Children Development Program (Ratson), our guiding mandate is simple: "Children are the center of our work!" To turn that mandate into meaningful impact, we actively create pathways for young people to advocate for their rights, participate in governance, and influence policy at local, national, and international levels.

Ratson was proud to delegate Tedros Gare Dadi, President of the East Showa Zone Child Parliament, to attend the International Conference on the Protection of Children Affected by Armed Conflict and Climate Change in Nairobi, Kenya.

A Dual Threat to Children’s Well-Being
The conference brought together global leaders, government representatives, United Nations agencies, civil society organizations, researchers, and youth advocates to address the compounding crises threatening children worldwide.

Participants emphasized that children are overwhelmingly the most vulnerable demographic during humanitarian and environmental disasters:

💡 Armed Conflict: Forces families into displacement, exposes children to direct violence and recruitment by armed groups, disrupts education, and severs access to basic healthcare and protection services.

💡Climate-Related Disasters: Accelerating droughts, unpredictable floods, and severe food insecurity in regions across Africa force migration, leaving millions of children vulnerable to malnutrition, severe psychosocial distress, and exploitation.

Driving Solutions Through Youth-Led Advocacy
Over the three-day event, delegates shared evidence-based strategies, country experiences, and innovative frameworks aimed at building stronger, climate-resilient child protection systems.

🚀 Tedros’s presence at the conference ensured that the lived experiences and priorities of children from the East Showa Zone were brought to the global stage. Elevating grassroots youth leaders ensures that international responses, policies, and protection mechanisms remain grounded in the reality of the communities they serve.
